Our 7th-grade Humanities elective students have been hard at work creating original documentaries. This project gives them the chance to explore topics they care deeply about while building essential Humanities skills, including reading, writing, research, digital literacy, and presentation. The result is a public-facing product that examines real issues in the community. 'Behind Shelter Doors,' featured here, is just one example of the thoughtful, high-quality work our students are doing in this class.

University School’s Speech & Debate Club had a standout February, competing in four tournaments—two online and two in person—against both middle school and high school students. Our students showed confidence, poise, and serious talent all month long.

This afternoon, USchool students of all ages spent time working on their Five Foundations—a schoolwide initiative to foster respect and kindness. In an activity designed by division leaders and our school counselor, students mixed across groups and practiced introducing themselves, sharing common interests, and respectfully listening to one another.

University School works hard to build the skills students need to be both curious and kind—with confidence!

University School is proud of its strong tradition of full participation and high achievement in the Tulsa Regional Science Fair.

Last week, every 7th- and 8th-grade USchool student made the trip to the Allen Chapman Student Union, trifold presentation in tow, to present their projects to the judges. We believe that participation in Science Fair is an outstanding opportunity for experiential learning that integrates multiple disciplines and requires real-world application. It builds research and presentation skills and helps students understand how what they are learning connects. (Pictured here are students giving their demo presentations during our on-campus exhibition—we aren’t allowed into Science Fair to get pictures of the real thing!)

University School students earned multiple top honors, demonstrating both academic excellence and strong presentation.

As part of their study of the 100-year anniversary of Route 66, Early Primary students are exploring many interesting places along the historic route. When students discovered the The Pink Elephant Antique Mall in Livingston, Illinois, Early Primary teacher Deena Smith saw an opportunity to connect this work with the class's study of the letter "E."

The students brought their learning together by creating a paper quilt featuring pink elephants on a checkerboard pattern inspired by Route 66 and the beloved pink elephant, Ellie. Ms. Smith shared photos of the students' work with the Pink Elephant team and was delighted to receive a warm response, including a feature on the Pink Elephant Antique Mall's page.
