The Pencil Box is a retail setting where certified core classroom teachers at partnering schools can select school supplies specific to the needs of their students and classroom activities throughout the school year, grades pre-K thru 12. Schools eligible to partner are public schools in Tulsa County where 70% or more of the students live at or below the Federal Poverty Level. Businesses, organizations and individuals stock the shelves by donating product and financial support. Supplies not donated are purchased at reduced prices from partnering local and national manufacturers and retailers. Pencils are still the #1 requested school supply. In addition, students always need art markers, backpacks, binders, construction paper, copy paper, crayons, filler paper, highlighters, glue sticks, math compasses and protractors, pencil zipper bags, pencils, pens, rulers, scissors, spiral notebooks, white glue and white board markers. In most cases, businesses and individuals can claim donations as charitable contributions; however, we recommend you rely on the advice of your tax advisor.
