Even though last week’s rain kept students indoors, the fun and learning didn’t stop! These kindergarteners spent their GG time observing the many shapes and sizes of various seeds, making illustrations along the way. 🫛🫘

Seed saving & practicing garden expectations at GLA 🌼

The gardeners discussed that even though it’s sad that flowers naturally die at the end of their life cycle, there is joy and hope to be found in their seeds— we just have to take the time to see it (and save them)!

Earlier this week the 4th graders at Springdale learned about the garden ecosystem—where living and nonliving things interact, work together, and depend on each other to survive and thrive. Students practiced working together by building a pyramid of cups using only rubber bands and string, and recognized that they are each scientists, engineers, and community members!

School is officially in session, and young scientists have jumped right into practicing observation skills and garden safety as they harvest and taste late summer produce. We are looking forward to all that the new school year brings — to seeing what seeds are planted and to watching the gardens and the students grow.

We are excited to welcome Tiffany, Amber, and Alyssa into full-time roles at Global Gardens! Tiffany and Amber have joined us as Garden Educators, and Alyssa is now a full-time Assistant. The passion, expertise, and care they bring fills out our team beautifully and we are so glad they're here!

Fall is underway at the Greenwood Leadership Academy Family Food Farm.

This week the community gathered to plant seeds, add signs to their beds, harvest, and share some watermelon and fig snacks together. Garden Educator Ms Madison says it best: "Families are really taking ownership of their gardens and are so excited for the fall harvest to come!"

We love to see it.
