It may seem HUGE to you, or it might be insignificant. But there's no getting away from it, you have to make a choice. To NOT choose is to make a choice. The trouble is, you have absolutely no clue as to how to proceed. You're struggling. This is hard. Really hard. So what do you do?

Talk to mentors...
Find someone who is older, wiser (not always the same) and ask for some perspective. Choose someone that has nothing to do with your job or your company. This allows for some objectivity that you might have by being so close to the situation. Consider seeking input from more than one person in this category.

Read Smart People
I've been having more trouble with my vision getting worse as I age. I know, it just stinks to get old... but it beats not getting old, so I'll deal with it. One of the challenges that presents for me is that I love to read, so I end up reading less because it gives me headaches between the times I buy new glasses and the time I need new glasses again. But when I do read, I've learned that someone doesn't actually have to be smart to write things down. So with the limited time my meat sack has left on this rock hurling through space, I want to be a little more picky about WHOSE writing I spend my time reading. Then it hit me... READ SMART PEOPLE.

Although we can choose how and where it is spent, we cannot stop or even slow the flow of it from our life's account. Not only does it drain away, day by day, but we had no control where we would be placed in the time line of space & eternity. I’ll Never Do That Again
We've all uttered that phrase. It usually comes after a catastrophe, conflict or correction. Maybe you blew it on a project you volunteered to lead. I'LL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!

It could be that you decided it was time to reach an outstretched hand across the fence to make peace with someone you are at odds with, and not only did their dog bite you, the person bit you too. I'LL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!

You might have found yourself on the "rear end" of the butt chewing that took place with your supervisor, your spouse or your customer. You tried your best to please and to perform, but to no avail. I'LL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!

Trust me, I understand. No one likes to walk across the field where they've encountered land mines before. We get burnt, bruised and bullied until there is no fight left in us. It seems much easier to avoid the conflicts or evade the battle than to try again.

Ghosting Twitter
It seems you can’t turn on the news or the radio without hearing a story about Elon Musk and his Twitter deal…

Who knows how it’s all going to turn out? Maybe he buys it, maybe he doesn’t. Time and the courts will tell! But the story no one seems to be addressing is this… Why are so many large accounts on Twitter being abandoned over the last couple of years?

I was recently cleaning up some of the “lists” I had built over the years, and I was stand to see so many accounts, with followers of 5000 and that to 100,000 that have not made a single post, or seemingly engaged on Twitter in the last 2 to 3 years?

These are not small accounts, and they aren’t insignificant in their following numbers…

So what would cause these large accounts to abandon this platform?

Kick the Tires, Replace Them or Reinvent Them?
We've all heard the age old business advice that says, "There's no reason to reinvent the wheel!"

Sometimes this advice has merit. If we're simply changing something for the sake of change, then our time is usually a HUGE freaking waste of time! Change without purpose is typically an exercise in taste or narcissism.

Let's consider that in the course of life, we all could benefit from "kicking the tires". Simply put, we need to walk around whatever represents the "vehicle" in the moment, and just like that incredibly savvy car buyer, we need to "kick the tires". This advice is simply a call to examine what's working, whether it's for us or for someone else. There are times where it seems we might have conveniently hidden our own collective heads in our keester, ignoring the amazing and beneficial examples of what is working and producing powerful results for others!
