TCTA is setting up for the annual Give N Grab, the "garage sale" for new teachers in Tulsa Public Schools.
Doors open for new and new to tps teachers at 9 on Saturday, August 29th.
All members can come by beginning at noon. (But if you're volunteering you can come earlier!)
Teachers will receive a bag containing two reams of paper, cleaning wipes, and kleenex. We have also prepared "starter kits" for new teachers with pencils, pens, glue, etc. Some of the starter kits may contain a little extra surprise as well. 😉
Mama Js pantry will also be open for those teachers who are between paychecks and need their money to stretch just a bit further.
We can't wait to see you!

Last week some of our members got together and wrote Reminder to Vote post cards. We're putting them in the mail today. Don't forget to vote August 25th! Early voting is next week!

Happy first day to the staff at TPS!
While many of our staff reported prior to today and many voluntarily worked in their classrooms or buildings over the last week or so, today is the first report day for a majority of our teachers in Tulsa Public Schools.
We see you. We appreciate you. We believe in you. We are here for you.
Wishing for you that this is a fantastic year with very little drama, lots of learning and comraderie, and students and families who are excited to be with you.
We also wish for you appropriate compensation, administrators who see your needs and provide support, and enough plan time to complete all of the work.

Our hearts hurt. Oklahoma public education lost a great champion. Former TCTA President, Steve Stockley, passed away today. Steve leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Lynn Brasmer Stockley (also a former TCTA President), his kids, grandkids, many politicians (he’s not sad to leave several of them), and countless former students, including current TCTA President, Shawna Mott-Wright. He was a teacher, a counselor, a friend, a mentor, and will be greatly missed by all.
