It’s been a busy week over at Monroe Demonstration Academy with wrapping up week 3 of Summer Rebound (Summer School), hit the pavement x4, climate and culture work, and celebrating team members on their accomplishments to name a few things.

School begins August 20th and we’ve been putting in the time this summer to be ready to go hard on accomplishing our goals this school year because our students need and deserve it!

This summer isn’t just about credit recovery—it’s about second chances, fresh starts, and real growth. Our scholars are showing up, locking in, and taking advantage of the opportunity to rebound stronger than ever.

Every lesson, every assignment, every day—they’re proving that hard work pays off. 💥

Today, the staff at Monroe Demonstration Academy showed their love and appreciation to our volunteers, sponsors, and partners! It was such a nice and relaxing way to end the 24-25 school year connecting, visiting, and saying our good byes. Thank you to everyone that donated, cooked, and helped set up! We had a vision and we made it happen. Have a great summer Monroe 😘

Day 4 of Teacher Appreciation at Monroe involved a sweet pick me up with a Garden Tea Party (minus the garden ☺️). Staff were able to enjoy a selection of cookies, muffins, brownies, and banana nut breads along with lemonade and tea.

City Year assisted students with recording short video clips to create a Sips of Thanks video compilation. Check it out in the comments!

Days 2 & 3 involved a delicious Popcorn Bar thanks to the Monroe PTA and administration and a flavorful Pasta Bar lunch made possible by All Souls Partners in Education.

Students were tasked with Random Acts of Service and surprising teachers with a special treat, drink, or school supply.

Today we kicked off Teacher (and Staff) Appreciation Week by planting seeds of gratitude! Students wrote heartfelt notes and drew pictures showing how their teachers help them grow, which were added to our blooming appreciation gardens across campus.

This afternoon, our 8th graders helped spread some sunshine by delivering t-shirts, seed bombs, and snacks to our amazing teachers and staff!

Teacher Appreciation Week is about 6 weeks away, and we’re gearing up to celebrate the incredible educators and staff who keep Monroe thriving every single day!

I've put together a week full of joyful surprises and recognition for the people who make our school run—and we can’t pull it off without you!

We have lots of ways to get involved—from donating snacks and supplies to volunteering your time during the week. Every little bit helps us say a BIG “thank you” to our Monroe team! 🙌
