Our Middle School and Upper School art students recently used their creativity to show care and compassion to area veterans through a meaningful service project. Our school was invited to participate by John Lew, a representative from the U.S. Department of Public Affairs, whose daughter, Maisie Lew ‘29, is a student here. The painted stones will be placed in the rock gardens at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee and the Ernest Childers VA Outpatient Clinic in Tulsa. Veterans are encouraged to take a stone with them as a small reminder of encouragement, comfort, and community support.

Today, we celebrate the Feast Day of St. Rita of Cascia. Despite heartaches and tribulations in her life, St. Rita remained steadfast in her love for the Lord and was kind and patient to those around her. She exuded a fervent passion for the sufferings of Jesus, and she herself suffered well. St. Rita was ultimately destined to become an Augustinian nun; however, she answered her calling later in life after marrying young at her parents’ request.
For 40 years, St. Rita of Cascia remained in the Augustinian sisterhood, always anchored in her faith and desire to fulfill the Lord’s calling for her life. On this commencement day at Cascia Hall, we are reminded of the Lord’s presence in our own lives, and we look ahead to His guidance as our seniors move on to their next chapter.
