Jarman Elementary School, the home of the Jarman Patriots! We envision a school community where students feel safe and cared for in order to develop their fullest potential. Our goal is to prepare and ensure 100% of our students excel academically and socially, are college and career ready upon graduation and become responsible citizens. We believe with this vision our students will become empowered to achieve at their highest potential in all curricular areas. Jarman is one of 13 elementary schools in the Union Public Schools district. Union Public Schools is a suburban school district – the eighth largest in Oklahoma – serving over 15,000 students, grades pre-K through 12, in southeast Tulsa and part of Broken Arrow. The district’s 19 schools are nationally recognized in four strategic areas: Early Childhood Education, Community Schools, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and College/Career Readiness. Jarman Elementary fifth graders learned about 9/11 and the importance of honoring our nation’s flag during a special visit from Union High School AFJROTC cadets. Students from Whitney Rehburg and Kristie Knox’s classes learned how to properly fold and handle the American flag before joining the cadets outside for a flag-raising and salute at 8:46 a.m., the exact time the first plane struck the World Trade Center.

The ceremony was one of several taking place at Union elementary schools today as students and AFJROTC cadets came together to remember and honor those affected by 9/11.

Today, Union High School ROTC members came to Jarman to show safety patrol members how to properly fold a flag.

Then at 8:46 they raised the flag in remembrance of 9/11.
