"Students at a recent training workshop practiced teaching the LEI literacy materials. India has no national language, but Hindi and English are the official languages. Today, let us celebrate that the workshop trained church volunteers to teach Hindi literacy... while sharing the Gospel in the lesson materials. And let us pray for God’s fruitfulness in loving their neighbors by opening God’s Word by teaching reading and writing."

LEI Missionary Carolyn Pecho reports this Great News from Guinea-Bissau, Africa!! "Two classes in Kriol began in March at the Presbyterian Church in Gabu. One class has three students. The other has five. This class is taught by Afonso and Maimuna. These students have completed 16 lessons and will need Book 2 in a few weeks, along with the workbook." Carolyn and her team have been diligently working on creating this Kriol primer, and their work is already bearing eternal fruit!

New Reader Testimony, L&E TOGO, Africa. SELOM: "I lived in silence, unable to read, unable to fully grasp God's promises. Each lesson felt like a light breaking through darkness. 📖 New Reader Testimony. JABA: "I never had the opportunity to study at a school. The school was far from the village, and my parents did not pay attention to my studies. You could say that I was, in a way, completely illiterate. I would never take a Bible or hymn book to church, because, even though I really wanted to read the Bible, I could not. By the grace of God, one day the light of education came into my life. LII (Literacy International, India), in partnership with Maj Kristin, started literacy classes here in our center. I began studying at that center and learned to read Roman script within two years. Now I can read the Bible and understand God’s word. I am very grateful for the literacy program and this opportunity to learn."

LEI New Reader Testimony from AEI Brazil: “After accepting Jesus, I used to say to myself: one day I’ll preach the word of God. I started to follow my pastor and could reach many for God. But I didn’t know how to read. Now I’m studying lesson 37th. Each day of study is a blessing, and many times I started to cry, because I suffered a lot during all my life, and when I see that I’m starting to read, I get emotional. As we see in John 3.16 that God loved the world and sent His son to die for us, I think about those millions of illiterate people in the world. Those who are literate must show the love of God to those that are illiterate. My desire is that after being literate, I’d like to show the love of God to others, teaching them how to read, enabling them to access the Bible with the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
