Our September Character Trait is Responsibility!

Children learn responsibility by caring for their belongings, cleaning up after themselves, completing simple classroom jobs, and following through with tasks. Even small responsibilities help children develop confidence and independence.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord." – Colossians 3:23

Family Challenge: Give your child one special job at home each day and praise them for completing it faithfully.

At Early Connections Academy, we believe that a child's education extends far beyond learning letters, numbers, and academic skills. One of the most important parts of early childhood education is helping children develop strong character and a Christ-centered foundation that will guide them throughout their lives.

Beginning this school year, we are excited to intentionally incorporate a Character Trait of the Month into our curriculum. Each month, children will explore a different biblical character trait through classroom discussions, hands-on activities, books, music, dramatic play, Bible lessons, and everyday teachable moments.

In August, we are focusing on Self-Control! Self-control means stopping, thinking, and making good choices, even when we feel excited, frustrated, or impatient.

Throughout the month, our teachers will help children practice waiting patiently, using kind words, following directions, and managing their emotions in positive ways. These everyday moments help build confidence and strong character.

This month at Early Connections Academy, we are focusing on Self-Control!

Self-control helps children learn to pause, make wise choices, and manage their emotions in healthy ways. Whether it's waiting for a turn, using kind words, or calming their bodies, these everyday moments help build a strong foundation for lifelong success.

A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls." – Proverbs 25:28

Family Challenge: Practice taking turns during a game or conversation and celebrate your child when they demonstrate self-control!

We look forward to partnering with families as we encourage our little learners to grow in self-control every day!

This week, we celebrate the heart of Early Connections Academy — our incredible teachers!

Every day, they show up with patience, love, and a passion for helping children grow. From comforting tiny infants to our "big kid" classrooms, their impact reaches far beyond what words can express.

They wipe tears, celebrate milestones, encourage first steps, spark curiosity, and create a safe place where every child feels seen and valued. The work they do isn’t always easy, but it is always meaningful.

To our teachers: thank you for your dedication, your kindness, and the countless little moments that make a lifelong difference. You are shaping the future, one child at a time.

ECA will celebrate Dr. Seuss Week March 2nd - March 6th to promote literacy, creativity, and a love for reading among children. Dr. Seuss’s birthday is on March 2nd and is part of the National Read Across America Week, an initiative by the National Education Association (NEA).

We encourage our families to read more…
Encourage Reading – Dr. Seuss books are fun, engaging, and easy for young readers to enjoy, helping to build early literacy skills.
Promotes Creativity & Imagination – His stories are full of whimsical characters and rhymes that inspire kids to think creatively.
Fosters a Love for Learning – Participate in our fun week by dressing up on themed dress-up days and activities to make learning exciting.

Aligns with National Read Across America – The event supports the NEA’s mission to motivate children to read.

Our Heatherridge 2026 mission team is hosting a parents night out fundraiser on Saturday, February 14th from 6-9 PM at Heatherridge Baptist Church. This will be for all kids, infants and up. Younger kids will play and do Valentines activities. The older kids will have a nerf war!
