Certified math teacher in Tennessee, who has taught/tutored for over 20 years. I started tutoring math as a Sophomore in Bowling Green, KY while I attended Greenwood High School. While attending Motlow State Community College under an Academic Scholarship, I assisted a math professor daily. She noticed my potential and recommended me for tutoring. My scholarship changed to a Leadership Scholarship
as I traded tutoring hours at the Motlow Math Lab for my tuition. I was also hired by the Math Lab to work extra hours for income while attending school. While tutoring there, a new law was passed that all Head Start workers had to have their Associates Degree in order to continue working in the program. Tennessee State University contacted Motlow to find a tutor willing to travel to the different Head Starts in the areas around Tullahoma to assist the Head Start employees with their math courses. I was recommended by Motlow. I began traveling to tutor for TSU. I was also tutoring math and physics to high school students privately in Tullahoma. Then, Sylvan Learning Center was looking for a math teacher and contacted Motlow. Again, I was recommended for this position as well. I began teaching at Sylvan Learning Center in Tullahoma at 19 years old. After graduating from Motlow with Honors, I was awarded a scholarship at Austin Peay State University to tutor as well. I tutored math at Austin Peay for a portion of my tuition. I also taught math at the Sylvan in Clarksville. During my time at Sylvan, I became the head math teacher. High school students, who had failed their math course at the high school level, could come to me at Sylvan to earn their credit for high school. I continued to teach at Sylvan after I graduated from Austin Peay. I was a substitute for middle and high schools in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System after graduating. I also taught resource classes at Tabernacle Christian School in Clarksville. In May of 2006, I was hired by Northwest High School in Clarksville to teach Algebra I and Foundations II for the 2006-2007 school year. I have also substituted in Special Education in Sevierville, TN. From February 2008 to July 2012, I worked for the Department of Children's Services for the following counties in Tennessee: Humphreys, Dickson, Stewart, Houston, Bedford, Lincoln, Moore, and Coffee. I worked in Social Services until I became a supervisor in Child Protective Services in Coffee County. All my experience is centered around children. My passion is to teach and be a role model for my students. I taught at CCCHS from 2012 to 2017. I took the next 5 years off to stay home with my youngest son and tutor in the afternoons at my home. I was also the substitute coordinator for Coffee Co Schools during a portion of this time. I also filled open math positions at Coffee County Central High School and Tullahoma High School. I currently teach Geometry and Algebra 2 at Tullahoma High School. This is my first year at THS!!
