Hello from the Chippewa house! Today we’re learning about caves as a part of our treasure island theme.
Our toddlers and infants had so much fun exploring “caves” today with friends! We even went on a bear hunt with our special exploring hats.

This month, the Makah kids are bringing in the summer by having fun exploring elements around us! We used our senses to look at, smell, touch and play with flowers and some fun sensory activities!

This month our theme is Treasure Island, so of course we had to do a treasure hunt at Siletz! We hid some gold coins in our yard and then we went on a big hunt for them! The first thing we did was identify all of the landmarks on our map. This helped us figure out where our starting point was and where we were going to find the treasure. Then we looked over the map to find our path. When we put all of this together, we found our treasure!

This month, the Sunde kids have been practicing their balancing skills! We played a fun game using tools we had at school. We used wrapping paper, 2 paper plates, and our play kitchen food. We all tested how well we can balance different types of food shapes in our plates. We all cheered for our friends and celebrated their skills! We really had so much fun balancing! 😁

Our little athletes at 90th didn’t let the warm weather slow them down! There is absolutely nothing better than the sound of preschool giggles on a sunny day. ☀️
To stay cool while getting our exercise, our friends had a blast running through a refreshing water mist and tested their skills jumping over beams. So much fun! ☺️

This week, the Chippewa house is learning about camouflage bugs like butterflies, moths, and leaf insects!
We’ve been doing some beautiful butterfly press art, 🦋 using play dough as pretend cocoons for caterpillars 🐛, and using leaves for painting. 🍃

This month, the infants and toddlers are having so much fun playing pretend and dressing up in costumes! This is such a fun play activity as it allows children to safely explore their imaginations, test out real-world (and possibly future!) roles, and process complex emotions.

This month at Siletz we are learning all about bugs! So, while the weather was so nice we decided to go for a bug hunt! We had a list of common bugs to find in our area and we spent the morning hunting. We had to use our knowledge of where bugs live and where you can find them. For example, we looked in the flowers for bees since we know they pollinate flowers. We also looked in the ground for ants since we know the live in soil. We had so much fun looking all over our yard!

The Sunde kids have been on some outside adventures this week! We went on an I Spy adventure and we looked for things that bugs could use as a shelter, or as food. As we searched, we paid careful attention to the colors that we were finding! We focused on yellow, red, green, and gray colors. We used our good eyesight to find things that bugs really like to be around. We had so much fun doing this activity - we even found a couple of spiders living under a rock! 🕷️
