Did You Know?
In the , you can actually hear the sap rising by using a stethoscope!
It sounds like a low rumble accompanied by pops and crackles.
It works best on a cold night followed by a sunny day with temperatures above zero.
- Chose a smaller sugar maple about 10 to 12 inches in diameter, really large trees have thicker bark, and it is a bit harder to hear.
- Place the bell of the stethoscope on a flatter part of the tree โ hold still and really listen.
Itโs wonderful to behold a tree waking up after a long winterโs nap ๐ฑโ๏ธ๐ณ
Happy First Day of Spring!
