‘School funding crisis’ town hall urges WA to fix the gaps | Renton Reporter Districts represented include Mercer Island, Bellevue, Issaquah, Lake Washington, Northshore, Renton, Riverview, Shoreline, Snoqualmie Valley and Tukwila.

REA members Tai and Courtney sat down with Rep. Berquist and Rep. Hackney to share our legislative priorities.
We discussed, at length, special education funding, gaps in federal funding, transportation, HOW education is currently funded AND how it needs to be funded.

We also advocated for educating the broader community on how funding models in our state work so people can engage in these types of conversations.

Rainbow Educators are a group of educators from Rainier UniServ Council (Renton EA, Renton ESP, Renton Prof Tech, Highline EA, Bellevue College, Highline College, and Professional Support Association (PSA) at Puget Sound ESD) who meet to discuss how to support LGBTQ+ Educators and Students.

Rainbow educators are meeting on the First Thursday of every month, starting October 2nd, 2025. If you are interested in participating in this group, please complete the following form. Dinner will be provided. Our goal this year is to be in person only!

Anyone in the LGBTQ+ community (and Allies) are invited to join the Rainbow Educators group.
