Today, we elected one of our very own as the next Washington Education Association President!

She advocated and fought for RESP members as our local president and for all ESP members statewide as WEA Vice President. Now she has been elected to the seat of WEA President. This is a powerful reminder that when we come to the table, our voices are heard, our work is valued, and our leadership is recognized.

Because when we fight, we win! ✊🏽

Join me in congratulating Janie White on her new role as WEA President. I’m excited to see the leadership, passion, and dedication she will continue to bring to educators and students across Washington. Congratulations, Janie! 🎉

Congratulations to our newly elected WEA leaders! President Janie White (middle), Vice President Tani Lindquist (left), and NEA Board Director Audra Shaw (right).

Current WEA President Larry Delaney, elected in 2019, completes his term in July when the new officers take office.

The Big Bad Terrible Bill puts students, families, and public schools at risk.

This bill guts Medicaid, takes food off kids’ lunch trays, and pushes a nationwide private school voucher scheme that drains resources from the schools that serve us all.

Educators see through it. Families feel the impact. And our communities deserve better.
