Today, we celebrate an extraordinary educator and an extraordinary story. ❤️🍎

Congratulations to Lisa Scott of Vail School District, named Arizona Teacher of the Year by the Arizona Educational Foundation.

Lisa’s journey back to the classroom is a powerful reminder of the heart, resilience, and purpose that define great educators. After facing a life-changing medical emergency and losing her hands and feet, Lisa chose to return to the classroom, to the students she loves and the work that fills her soul.

Her students and her Vail family helped her find confidence in her new reality, and Lisa continues to show her students what courage, perseverance, and compassion look like.

And we couldn’t be more proud that, for the second year in a row, Arizona’s Teacher of the Year comes from a Pima County school district. What an incredible reflection of the educators who show up every day to inspire, support, and change the lives of our amazing students.

Let Go, Let In, Let Be. We recently had the privilege of hosting educators from across the state for our Summer Resilience Retreat.

Centered on the theme 'Renew • Restore • Thrive', the day offered opportunities for reflection, meaningful connection, learning, and healing. Through mindfulness, breathwork, engaging workshops, and shared conversations, participants explored practical strategies for building resilience and prioritizing well-being...both personally and professionally.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and invested in themselves before the start of a new school year. We hope you left feeling renewed, restored, and ready to thrive. 🌻💛

After 11 years of dedicated service at CAPE, we are wishing a happy retirement to Shelly Duran, Principal, and Terri Polan, Special Services Coordinator.

Serving students at our school located within the juvenile detention center and adult jail, Shelly and Terri led with compassion, integrity, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every young person. They built relationships, inspired hope, and changed countless lives through their leadership and commitment to students who needed champions the most.

Thank you, Shelly and Terri, for your years of service, your incredible character, and the difference you've made in our community. Your legacy will continue through the lives you've touched.
