Another wonderful morning assembly to start our week!

We had 3 new Ben's Bells kindness recipients. These three students in grades 1, 2, and 4 are wonderful examples of how to spread kindness! They'll nominate 3 new recipients next week.

Our Glowing Gardeners this week were Ms. Patterson's 5th grade class and our Library Leaders were Ms. Hunter's Kindergarten class. Legendary Lunchers this week are both 5th grade classes for not letting their conversations distract them from their eating. Finally our Playground Prodigies are our 2nd grade classes! Thank you to all of these classes for Soaring With 4 all day long!

Lastly, we were introduced to our Cross Country team of 19 students lead by Ms. Soraida! They have a very full schedule of meets, but it's still not too late to join if your interested in becoming part of the team! You only need to make sure you have a current physical completed. Ms. Soraida says the team will be working hard to bring back trophies and ribbons to Howell that show what exceptional athletes they are. Mrs. Alexander added what great examples they are in demonstrating sportsmanship at all competitions. Way to go Howell athletes!

: We are thrilled to shine a bright light on Kristen Buus, our amazing Office Manager at Peter Howell Elementary! Although she has been with TUSD for just over a year — having made the big move from the west side of Phoenix to Tucson — she has already made a massive, heartwarming impact on our campus community. For Kristen, the absolute best part of her job is the people. She says the students feel like her own kids, and there is no other school she would rather be at, calling Peter Howell one big family! When she isn't leading her team with dedication and a smile, Kristen loves embracing the outdoors. Her favorite hobbies include riding motorcycles with her husband and spending quality time with her husband and kids. Thank you, Kristen, for bringing your wonderful energy, your big heart, and your dedication to the Peter Howell family!

Our Robotics Club, sponsored by Ms. Miller, received a generous monetary donation of $1,000! Our club is receiving this support as part of the community outreach initiatives of Kemper Auto. We are so grateful to be recipients of this donation! As we all know, it takes our entire community to support student achievements and successes. Thank you, Kemper Auto!

We're starting off the week strong with a great assembly! As we progress further into the year, we have even more opportunities to recognize our amazing Hawks!

Today, we recognized our 3 new Ben's Bells recipients. All 3 of these people were noted to make others feeling included. They will nominate 3 new kind people on campus next week.

Then we had a chance to recognize our Glowing Gardeners and Library Leaders, Ms. Waddill's second grade class and Ms. Tapia's fourth grade class. Both classes demonstrated their eagerness to learn by asking great questions and listening to directions the first time. Our Legendary Lunchers last week were Kindergartens and our Playground Prodigies were Fifth Graders. They have earned a popsicle party and extra recess time!

Next, we moved on to recognizing student groups. Our Flag Football team was up first. Though their season is already underway, this was our first chance to recognize the whole team together. After, we called up our Student Council officers, followed by all grade level representatives. Students from each of these groups are expected to Soar With 4 at all times, especially when representing Peter Howell at events outside of school hours.

Finally, we recognized our Hawks of the Month. A mix of students in Grades K-5, were recognized by their grade level teachers or support staff for being role models in the classroom, Soaring With 4 consistently, and being an important part of their classes in the past month.

We are so proud of all the Hawks recognized and grateful to their families for helping them be their best! Go Hawks!

We are so excited about our "Breakfast and Books" program on Tuesdays & Fridays before school! Parents and kids are excited about this story time together with free breakfast from the cafeteria. This is a picture from last Friday. Remind your student to come check it out tomorrow!

Another great assembly to kick off our week!

We began by acknowledging classes and grade levels for Soaring with 4 when they are away from their grade level teachers. First grade earned Playground Prodigies last week and second grade earned Legendary Lunchers. These classes demonstrated ways to show respect, be on time, act safely, and be responsible and ready to learn - even with indoor recess. Our Library Leaders were Mrs. Burrell's third graders and our Glowing Gardeners were Mrs. Byrd's first graders. Both these classes were helpful and participated at high levels. Way to go, all!

We also had 3 new Ben's Bells recipients that are demonstrating kindness. Some of the ways they do this are by helping others feel welcomed and supported, and being present and listening. Thank you! We'll hear their nominees next week.
