Yesterday, our Kinder students had small celebrations in their classrooms to celebrate completing their Kindergarten year and moving into 1st Grade! πŸŽ‰ The celebration was made complete with families, pictures from the year, certificates, learning what each child wants to be when they grow up (we have a lot of future teachers! πŸ“šβœοΈπŸŽ), and a sprinkle of 1st Grade dust for each student!

We can't wait to welcome you all back in August and continue this learning journey together! Have a great summer!

Last week, students in grades 2-5 had their Career Day! Volunteers came in and shared all about their careers; how to acquire them, how to be successful in them, and some of the challenges they face. They brought in videos, art, samples, robots, uniforms, and other interactive pieces they knew would help engage students.

The many careers represented and learned about were firefighter, mining engineer, engineer works at Raytheon, software engineer, ceramics artist, U Of A police officer and her therapy dog, nail artist, paralegal, musician, and YouTuber and crossing guard.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers, and Ms. Bednar who make career day a fun-filled and inspiring learning day for our campus!

Today was our final assembly for the 2025-2026 school year and we celebrated many accomplishments!

We honored our newest Ben's Bell recipients; they'll have the privilege of nominating the first recipient for our 2026-2027 school year!

We also recognized our weekly winners who "Soar with 4" in learning spaces beyond their classroom. Our 5th Graders really chose to end their time at Peter Howell showing us the kind of role models they are; both Ms. Patterson's and Ms. Sartori's classes won Library Leaders and Glowing Gardeners last week! Our Legendary Lunchers were our Kindergarten classes and our Playground Prodigies were our 4th (soon to be 5th) grade classes! Thank you for demonstrating how to "Soar with 4!" in all spaces.

We also heard from our 5th Graders about their Legacy Project. In order to leave their mark on our school, they have decided to build a habitat for a rescued desert tortoise! Their love of creatures helped drive their decision to give us another animal to care for here at Howell.

We also recognized our final i-Ready winners for the year! Based on their last diagnostic, we chose students at each grade level that showed the most Reading Growth, the most Math Growth, the highest Reading Achievement, and the highest Math achievement. Congratulations on all your hard work, Hawks!

Finally, we celebrated our Sportsmanship Award! Our winner participated in multiple athletic seasons. Each coach said he not only challenged himself to always improve, but he also cheered on his teammates, handled both wins and losses with humbleness and dignity, and helped encourage teams to come together. He exemplifies sportsmanship and is a model student athlete for all! Congratulations! πŸŽ‰

Another wonderful year of learning, growth, and celebrations at Howell! πŸ’™πŸ’›

Just taking time to celebrate our amazing our 2026 OMA Jamboree; it was a resounding success! Our event took place, Friday, May 8th, but we're still thinking about it! We have such pride in being an OMA Gold school. Our Jamboree is the culmination of the hard work and dedication of many throughout the entire school year.

Ms. Kolmer- our Arts Integration Specialist, the Jamboree Committee, our OMA artists, classroom teachers, and volunteer parents work tirelessly to organize an event that showcases each grade level's focus, displays their visual arts, and brings us together to celebrate as a community.

In addition to our opera, instrumental, dance, and theatrical performances, we display the visual art pieces students have created throughout the year, have an interactive art creating experience with Ms. Howard, and bring in food trucks for our families to enjoy.

The success of our highly celebrated OMA program is built from the dedication of all those deeply involved, as well as tax credit donations. Our OMA Program is funded significantly by tax credit. Please consider giving a tax credit donation or sharing the opportunity to others you know to donate to our school. Every donation, large or small, creates an opportunity for our students to delve deeper into the arts!

Again, thank you to all of those involved in a celebratory night that honors our learning!
