Today was an amazing first day at Carrillo K-5 Communication & Creative Arts Magnet School! We loved seeing familiar faces, welcoming new students, and watching friendships reconnect.

From jumping right into learning on Day 1 📚 to enjoying a delicious lunch and staying cool and hydrated 💧, it was a fantastic start to the school year.

We can't wait to see all the great things our Cougars accomplish this year! 🎉

What goes into getting the rooms ready for students? KGUN9 was at Carrillo yesterday to answer that question. Here's a look inside two Carrillo classrooms as teachers get ready for students next week! We'll see you in 6 days for Meet the Teacher!

“They're going to feel like this is going to be the perfect classroom for them.” TUSD schools are getting ready to open in about a week we talked to teachers about how they prepare their rooms and how they prepare themselves for that first day of school.

Parents, this was in the last 2 updates, but we wanted to make sure you were all aware of the changes to which snacks are allowed at ANY Arizona school this year.

If any of the following 11 ingredients are in an item, it cannot be brought to school to share.

Potassium bromate
propylparaben
titanium dioxide
brominated vegetable oil
Yellow Dye 5 or 6
Blue Dye 1 or 2
Green Dye 3
Red Dye 3 or 40

Arizona law now bans 11 ingredients from school campuses during the school day Arizona public schools are now required to follow the Arizona Healthy Schools Act.

Yesterday and today, Ms. Bittel was working hard at the Administrator's Conference, putting the final touches on the plan for this school year. The best part was the keynote by guest speaker and author Principal Kafele! We can't wait to see you all on August 5th at Meet the Teacher!

Resources for the next school year are coming in fast and furious! We can't wait to get them in the hands of our young learners in just a few weeks!
