Last month, Greater Tucson Leadership welcomed Community Impact Awards honorees from 1984 to 2025, along with GTL alumni, board members, and community stakeholders, for our first-ever Community Impact Awards Honoree Breakfast at The Grand Tucson.

The morning was filled with meaningful conversations, shared wisdom, new connections, and reflections on the future of leadership in our community. One thing was clear from the feedback: leaders want more opportunities to connect, learn from one another, and continue strengthening Tucson together.

Thank you to Jana Beckel of JSCBPhotography for capturing this special gathering of community leaders whose collective impact continues to shape Southern Arizona.

Congratulations to the Greater Tucson Leadership Civic & Political Leadership Academy Class of 2026! 🎉

What an incredible way to close out our FY25-26 program year. Today, we celebrated our 7th CPLA cohort - and our largest cohort yet - as 13 emerging civic leaders completed six months of learning, growth, and engagement in local government, public policy, and community leadership.

A special thank you to our graduation keynote speaker, Representative Adelita Grijalva, United States House of Representatives, District 7, for joining us and inspiring our graduates as they prepare to take the next step in their civic leadership journeys.

Thank you to our sponsors, mentors, planning committee members, GTL Governing Board, and the entire GTL community for making this program possible. We are also grateful to the families, friends, and supporters who joined us this afternoon to celebrate our graduates and their accomplishments.

We can't wait to see the impact this class will make as they continue to shape our community and lead positive change across Southern Arizona.

Congratulations again, CPLA Class of 2026! 👏

Greater Tucson Leadership Development Director Jamie Leon-Guerrero and incoming Board Chair Emilia Eldridge attended tonight's BBB Serving Southern Arizona Torch Awards for Ethics at Casino Del Sol.

As a Spotlight Sponsor, GTL congratulates all of this year's nominees and award recipients for their commitment to integrity, accountability, and ethical leadership.

At GTL, we know that strong communities are built by leaders who earn trust through their actions. Ethics is the foundation of effective leadership - guiding decisions, fostering collaboration, and inspiring positive change. These values align closely with our mission to recognize, develop, and engage driven leaders to be catalysts for change throughout Southern Arizona.

Congratulations to the BBB Serving Southern Arizona team for hosting another outstanding event and creating a meaningful evening celebrating ethics, trust, and leadership across our region.

to just a few weeks ago when we celebrated the graduation of the Lead Tucson Class of 2026.

Each year, Lead Tucson participants spend ten months learning from community leaders, exploring the issues shaping our region, and meeting the people and organizations working every day to make Southern Arizona stronger. At the end of the program, the cohort nominates and votes to select the individual or organization that made the greatest impact on their class experience.

This year's selection was clear.

The Lead Tucson Class of 2026 proudly honored Undersheriff Gerardo Castillo of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department with the 2026 Community Impact Award.

Congratulations again, Undersheriff Castillo, and thank you for the hope, perspective, and inspiration you shared with the Lead Tucson Class of 2026. Your impact will continue to ripple through our community for years to come.

Greater Tucson Leadership is proud to once again be a beneficiary of the TMC Meet Me Downtown 5K Night Run & Festival of Miles!

One of our favorite traditions is working the finish line water station, and this year was no exception. There’s nothing quite like cheering on thousands of runners and walkers while helping keep everyone hydrated as they cross the finish line.

A huge thank you to GTL alumni, past Board Chair, and 2025 Alumni of Excellence honoree Randy Accetta for his continued support of GTL and for creating events that bring our community together. And thank you to our incredible GTL alumni volunteers who gave their time, energy, and enthusiasm to make the night a success.

We couldn't do it without you. Cheers to community, leadership, and another great night downtown! 💙🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

In a quick roundtable during Call to Action this morning, the Lead Tucson Class of 2026 shared their personal mission statements and reflections from the past 10 months together… and whew. What a beautiful reminder that you truly get out of Lead Tucson what you put into it.

Themes of authenticity, hope, courage, empathy, integrity, connection, confidence, gratitude, and service showed up again and again. Cohort members shared how they overcame imposter syndrome, strengthened their public speaking skills, learned to truly listen, embraced vulnerability, got out of their comfort zones, and developed a deeper understanding of Tucson and the people who make this community what it is.

So many talked about hope. Hope in people. Hope in organizations. Hope in leadership. Hope as action. Others reflected on the power of relationships, diverse perspectives, and the confidence that comes from being fully seen and supported in a room full of leaders who genuinely want each other to succeed.

From “adult field trips” to strengths growth, lifelong friendships, laughter, vulnerability, and honest conversations, this cohort leaned ALL the way in. And because they did, they’re leaving stronger, more connected, and more inspired to LEAD TUCSON.

Next up… graduation night 🎓💙
