Observing the 10 Points of Standing | UCB Program
As I approach standing each day, I find that I can work throught the checklist of standing points more quickly.I'm able to observe/release master cavity as well as perineum much sooner than previous efforts. As long as I "stay out of the way" I feel im growing taller the whole set, as the softness e...

Five Internal Breaths | UCB Program
Cultivating The Fire Pearl. The Five Internal Breathing Methods. These are distillations and extensions of the 47 breathing methods I have been exposed to over 50 years of training. I looked through all my training journals and such to arrive at 47. Yeah, there was a great deal of overlap. Still, ea...

Anchoring the Joints and Bitter | UCB Program
This post is more about anchoring the joints. In the previous training practiced, the neigong was that during standing, you released foot, ankle, calf, knee, hips, torso...ect...over and over to allow filling from the bottom up.However there was no clarity like the bottom, middle and top of each join...

Look Ma No Arms ! (well, for some short moments maybe ;-) ) | UCB Program
Wow! I feel so dumb sometimes. I've just noticed in stick practice just how much working with the foot couple, the pelvic couple, and the cavities takes the "excess slack" out of the fascia "body suit." I was practicing chambering, strike, parry, and thrust, and I could feel just how much more c***e...

Student Journal. My response "Kind Words. Enjoy the training. Not sure if what I showed qualifies as 'real' or not. The idea is too big for me to say one way or the other. SanTiShi and The 5 Fists are core. Linking form and animal forms are, to my view, more about technique, details and refinements....

3 Weeks of Standing, Beginners Mind, Empty Cup | UCB Program
around 3 weeks into standing, and this is totally different.Sifu explained Empty Cup Beginners Mind, as setting goals with this is impossible and that helped profoundly.for these 3 weeks I have struggled to release Perineum, but after that explanation, I didnt force, I just ever so gently kept the m...

'Light Yi' / 'Heavy Yi' Update | UCB Program
I am beginning to wonder if there ever is an arguable case for 'Heavy Yi'The more I become aware when I am using 'Heavy Yi', which is a lot more than I initially thought and spans a host of activities and not just training, the more I see it as a Cortisol 'spiker' which leads to background or low le...

Non Interference Anecdote | UCB Program
This practical experience of Non-Interference came to mind just as I was finishing off my last blog post. Experiences such as this served me as ‘convincers’ that this method is preferable to letting my ‘big brain’ lead the development. It’s quite a superficial example, but for me, it was a...

Another student training journal entry. My response: "If you are doing the basics, many sensations occur, most of which are unimportant. Interesting, but most will pass into something else, and so on, endlessly. Keep the basics, try forming fewer opinions about your experiences. In the end, there are few opinions that matter with regards to our development. so, are you right or wrong in knowing early on? yes. :) the rightness or wrongness of your training depends on how closely you follow instruction and maintain empty cup and beginners mind. Last night's class addresses some of this in more depth. Check the UCB Live - Standing archive."

Master Cavity and Perineum release effects check in... | UCB Program
Ok, I may be way off on this, but wanted to write it while it was fresh. For the past week my training has been 20-30 minutes of standing a day, with Bends, and Elbow Arm Circles...thumbs down of course.

First week... | UCB Program
Pranam (Greetings) everyone. Since joining the program last Friday by the grace of Sifu, I looked around a bit through the cirriculum to kind of get the lay-of-the-land so to speak. It's incredible to hear (and read) Sifu explaining with precise terminology concepts that my previous Teacher(s) descr...
