Senior Spotlight 🌳 Cassandra! 🎓
Please join us in congratulating Cassandra on her graduation from the University of Arizona! 👏 Cassandra is graduating as the Outstanding Senior for the Sustainable Plant Systems major at the 🌱 She is graduating summa cm laude with a 4.0GPA and has been the grateful recipient of multiple awards during her undergraduate career.
Throughout her time with the University of Arizona Campus Arboretum, Cassandra helped connect the campus community to the living landscape through educational outreach, social media content, plant science communication, record management and seasonal highlights from across the Campus Arboretum. 🌵
From showcasing blooming trees and desert-adapted plants to helping tell the stories rooted throughout campus, her creativity and passion for plants helped inspire others to slow down, look closer, and appreciate the beauty growing around them.✨

Join us this Saturday, May 9 to learn all about the Environment and Natural Resources 2 building (ENR2), a LEED Platinum certified structure and how to create your own urban oasis in this docent-guided tour.
🌱Designed to mimic the form of a slot canyon, ENR2 creates a set of microclimates for native and non-native plants. This tour will help you learn more about the many plants that thrive here and provide you with ideas for creating a green oasis in your own home and yard. An impressive combination of botanical and architectural expertise, the ENR2 building is unique.
🌳Led by County Master Gardeners, the tours provide in-depth education, information and the opportunity to get all your questions answered.

Join the University of Arizona Campus Arboretum for a Docent-Guided Tour this month! There are only two remaining Guided Tours this semester, as the weather is warming up and soon it will be too hot. Please join us for a tour on Arboretum History and the ENR2 building this month! 🌿
🌼Led by Pima County Master Gardeners the tours provide in-depth education, information and the opportunity to get all your questions answered. The guided tours are scheduled throughout the academic year on Sunday mornings, with a few on Saturday mornings, and last 60 - 90 minutes.

Now blooming at the Campus Arboretum! 🌳 Meet the striking Yucca rostrata. Keep reading to learn more about this desert standout. 🌵✨
🌸 Despite its tree-like form, it’s actually a succulent, with a trunk that stores water to survive dry conditions.
🦋 Pollinated by specialized yucca moths, in the genus Tegeticula, which actively collect and deliver pollen. One of nature’s coolest partnerships.
🌱 Native to the deserts of Texas and northern Mexico, it thrives in heat, sun, and well-drained soils.
☀️ Its blue-green leaves act like natural sun protection, helping it handle intense desert light.
📍 Another beautiful reminder of the seasonal change happening throughout the Campus Arboretum.
