Hey climbers! In case you didn't see my email, here is some important information that couldn't wait for the beginning of spring semester:

Hueco Rock Rodeo (2/10-2/12/17)
For those of you who are unfamiliar, the Hueco Rock Rodeo is the biggest and best outdoor climbing competition in the world! Luckily for us, it is only a five hour drive from Tucson.
Pro and amateur climbers from all over the world make the pilgrimage every February to Texas to climb at North America's greatest bouldering area. The weekend includes the competition, camping, food, cool gear giveaways, pro climber tours, and much more! Check out the full schedule here to get more details on the festivities.
Not a pro climber? Not a problem! The competition features 4 categories based on your skill level: Beginner (V0-V4), Intermediate (V3-V7), Advanced (V5-V10), and Open (V7-V14). The competition is a great way to discover the park. There are tons of experienced climbers who are more than willing to point you to some classic problems whether you're sending V0 or V15. Plus, there are definitely other climbers at your skill level who you can share the psyche with!
If I haven't sold you on the event yet, go ahead and check out their webpage for more details! You can also register for the event here. The price for a competitor pass is a bit expensive ($100), but it makes a great present for the holidays! And believe me, the memories and fun you will have at the rodeo are worth the price! Try and register as soon as possible, spots for the event are limited!
If you do sign up for the rodeo, please let me know! If we get enough UA climbers, the club will facilitate a carpool to the event to save ya'll some money. We can also camp together as a club! Also, if you do compete, make sure you rep our club shirts!

Shirts
Speaking of shirts, they finally did come in! I'd like to apologize on behalf of all of the officers for the long delay. We did end up going with a tee shirt rather than a tank, but feel free to cut your shirt up however you please (I know I'll be cutting/altering mine). We'll be distributing the shirts at the beginning of next semester, so look for an email from me in January.

WildCat Climbing Competition (2/25/17)
For the past couple weeks, I've been working on organizing the boulder wall's annual competition. This year's competition should be the largest in history and I expect the club to make a strong showing (Rep those shirts!!). The event is going to be the last Saturday in February (2/25/17), so make sure you keep your schedules clear. Just like the rock rodeo, we will have the competition broken up into gender and skill categories. I've already secured a lot of sponsorship, so look forward to winning some sweet gear! More details on the event are forthcoming!
Thanks for making it through my email. As always, let me know if you have any questions!

Climb on!
