As our season comes to an end, we are getting ready to welcome changes to our staff by saying “goodbye” and “hello” to some people. Miranda and Benji will be leaving us this season to explore exciting educational opportunities and we wish them all the best! Additionally, Genesis and Olivia are joining our team and will be working with us to continue ITE’s mission. ☀️
Please join us in giving them all well wishes!
We are excited to gear up for the next season with everyone and we’ll see you all in the Fall! 🏕️

The last month of programs before ITE pauses for the summer has been bustling! At ITE we like to end the season with a bang!
On May 2nd, ITE celebrated the end of the 2026 Youth for Blue Skies cohort by attending interns’ presentations at the CRiA symposium held by and their Culturally Responsive Pedagogy & Instruction department 🌤️🌎
Students presented on topics ranging from
• Environmental Justice🤝
• Bio-design ⛓️💥
• Impact of Fireworks on Saguaros on A Mountain🌵 &
• ATV use impacts on the Sonoran Desert!🏜️
We are so proud of their accomplishments and growth throughout the internship! Thank you to Department of Environmental Quality for their continued partnership & support! 🌿
On May 8th, ITE guided 10 students on a night hike in the Tucson Mountains where students were able to engage with “Life After Dark” in the Sonoran Desert!🌄
They learned about dark skies & light pollution🌃, plant adaptations in the desert🌵, and saw some interesting critters!🦂🕷️
Thank you to our partner the National Recreation Foundation for supporting programs like these to get youth out into nature! 🥾
