Welcome back teachers and staff to another school year. It was so nice seeing friendly beautiful smiling faces today. Cant wait yo kick off the school year with all of you. Keep up the awesome job you all do for our children. Thank you for all the hard work you all do each and every day
Anyone have the list of what the students need? I mainly need 2nd and 6th grade.
One of my favorite pictures from our end of Exchange Year party.

Host an exchange student like one of these. In this picture countries represented.
Germany, Slovakia, China, Thailand, Romania, Japan, Brazil, Spain, Vietnam, Kenya, Turkey, Italy, Poland.

This is My group of 18 students from the Tucson AZ area for the 2018/2019 school year. They all will be going back to their countries in the next 3 weeks and each will be taking home the memories they have had and the family and friendships they have built. They are all amazing kids each one has touched my heart.

Your family has the opportunity to host a student for the 2019/2020 school year and build memories with your own international son or daughter. I need families that are in TUSD boundaries and I know we have some on our forum.

Contact me today. Melisa Vega at 207-553-5135 and I will help to find your new son or daughter and welcome your family into the wonderful world of Cultural Exchange.

Your Application can be started here www.ciee.org/hostapply
A part of your family is waiting to hear from you.

TUSD families needed!!!!
6,7and 8th graders at the Pima County Fair performance on Thursday.
I was told today by my daughter that they are not allowing the students to bring backpacks to school due to a student bringing a wax pen. I’m just wanting to know if this is true and if it is why it’s something that wasn’t informed directly to the parents in a form of phone call or letter.
Thank you McCorkle staff, teachers, students and PTSO for a wonderful Posada it was beautiful and the food was delicious 😀
Good morning McCorkle Mustangs!
PTSO will be selling McCorkle Mustang T-shirts at open house today for $13.00 Come Stop by and see us and place your McCorkle Mustang T-shirt order. 🐎😁📚💪
Thank you
Have a great day
Thank you to the staff for holding our kids back from going into the weather today as my vehicle was getting belted by hail. That was a very intense storm and I'm very happy the kids were safe. I did see some parents get their kids while the storm was going on, and that's on them. Lightning was way too close as well. I was happy to wait an extra half hour until the storm was done. Thank you again!

Dear McCorkle Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of McCorkle Academy faculty and staff, I would like to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year. We are so excited to get the year started. Your administrative team consists of myself, Deanna Harris, Principal, Amy Cannon, Assistant Principal and Scott Rodman Assistant Principal. Mr. Rodman is joining our team this year. He comes from a Two-Way Dual Language school in Oregon and has been an Assistant Principal for three years.

Join us for Meet Your Teacher night, Wednesday, August 3rd from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. Gates will open at 5:00p.m. You will be able to meet your child’s teacher and find their classrooms. Attached to the email you will find general grade level supply lists. If a teacher needs something else, they will hand out a supply list specific to their class. We do have a clear/see through backpack policy. Each student should have their own water bottle. We now have water bottle refill stations instead of water fountains.

School starts Thursday, August 4 at 9:10 a.m. for all students. Students may be dropped off on campus between 8:30 a.m. and 9:10 at the far North Gate. Breakfast begins at 8:30a.m. We are very lucky at McCorkle as any child who wants to eat gets free breakfast and lunch.

Elementary students are dismissed at 3:25 and middle school students at 4:15. Parent pick up is at the North Gate and walkers exit out the southeast gate on Ingresso at the east end of the bus bay. Parents, please help us by parking in the school parking lot or the overflow parking on the dirt lot on the corner of Ingresso/Mission. Please do not park in the trailer parks or the property just by the McCorkle concrete sign on Mission as all of these are private property. Do plan extra time the first few days for parent pick up as everyone gets used to the procedures in place.

Currently, Pima County, is at a yellow stage for Covid transmissions. Masks are recommended. Attached Each week, Pima County updates their Covid transmission stage. If we shift from one level to the next, we will send out a parent link advising of the new designation and any needed mandates. Attached you will find the Covid 19 Masking Guidelines.

McCorkle Academy is a green school and most communication will come via emails in Synergy and Parent Link calls. Updates may be found on our page and our school website during the school year. Please make sure that your emails and phone numbers are up to date on your Parent Vue account in Synergy. This will help ensure that school communication reaches you.

We look forward to seeing you this week. We can’t wait to get started. We are going to have a wonderful school. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Sincerely,

Deanna Harris

Principal
