Hip-Hop en Français: An Exploration of Hip-Hop Culture in the Francophone World 07/09/2020

New book to be published / Nouvel ouvrage à paraître / Lançamento de livro

I am honored and humbled to be among such outstanding scholars. Some of them have been part of the adventure from way back when we published Black, Blanc, Beur, Rap Music and Hip-Hop Culture in the Francophone World. In some cases, we started our careers at the same time. We are all excited to welcome such an outstanding new generation of hip-hop scholars to this volume.

A special shout out to Marcyliena Morgan for honoring us with her beautiful foreword. Marcy, you have been such an inspiration and model to follow for so many of us. Thank you so much for all that you continue doing for hip-hop studies and for all of us.

Another shout out to my colleagues, hip-hop faculty at the University of Arizona - Jerome Dotson, Brett Esaki, Erika Gault, Ntare Gault, John Melillo, Alex Nava, Tani Sanchez, and Praise Zenenga - and to our hip-hop minor alumna Jocelyn Valencia for their work, collegiality, and for making Tucson, Arizona such an important place for hip-hop studies.

As Sidney famously said to us in France in the mid 1980s: "Je sais que tu peux!"

PS: a cheaper paperback edition will be available next year.
