Before you wrap up your weekend, please take 2 minutes tonight to log into cfsd16.arux.app and make sure:

1️⃣ Your child's schedule is confirmed for the week for CARE & Classes!

2️⃣ You know which days they are attending.

3️⃣ Pickup details and emergency contacts are good to go!

Students in Grades 4 through 8 (ages 9-14) who are interested in being on an FLL team must attend a 2-session FLL PREVIEW CLASS!

The Preview Class is an opportunity to try the engineering, programming and research activities before committing to the full season, which runs from August to the regional robotics competition on December 19th. Teams selected for the state competition continue to January 23rd. FLL takes enthusiasm, teamwork, willingness to learn, dedication, focus and persistence in problem-solving, and commitment to team goals.

Students can attend Preview Classes at Sunrise Drive School (SDS) or Ventana Vista (VV).
Students from Orange Grove and Esperero Canyon can request a bus pass to SDS or VV when registering.
FLL Preview classes will be led by STEM Integration Specialists Charlotte Ackerman (SD) and Noah Mickey-Colman (VV).

The Preview classes are scheduled on the following days:
● Mondays - Ventana Vista – August 10 and 17 from 3:00-5:30pm
● Wednesdays - Sunrise Drive - August 12 and 19 from 3:00-5:30*pm
● Fridays - Sunrise Drive - August 14 and 21 from 3:00-5:30pm

*Every effort is made to accommodate the students who want to continue on teams for the full season. An additional or alternate day may be offered at Sunrise. Team meetings for the season start the week of August 24, 2026.

Is your 6th, 7th, or 8th grader ready for some fresh air, incredible desert views, and outdoor fun? The Esperero Canyon Hiking Club is kicking off soon!

Whether your student is an experienced hiker or just wants to try something new, no experience is needed—just comfortable shoes, water, and a sense of adventure.

🗓 When: Wednesday mornings, 7:15 AM – 9:15 AM

📅 Starts: August 5th (Back to campus in time for class by 9:15 AM)

🌄 What to expect: Weekly hikes, flowing creeks, mountain views, building endurance, and making new friends!

Looking to get your kids outdoors, learning hands-on survival skills, and building teamwork this fall? CFSD Community Schools is offering two exciting programs led by Outdoor Adventure Instructor Alex Pierce starting August 12th!

🌱 Junior Explorers (Grades K–2)
Young adventurers will step into the wild and discover essential outdoor skills through fun play and teamwork! Focus: Shelter building, navigation, and plant identification When: Wednesdays, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM Cost: $123 / 1st Quarter 🧩

Wilderness Engineering & Navigation (Grades 3–5)
Older students can put their critical thinking and survival science to the test by applying STEM concepts directly to the wild! Focus: Designing shelters, identifying edible plants, building compasses, and hands-on problem-solving When: Wednesdays, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM Cost: $123 / 1st Quarter
