2020 MDP graduate Jake Meyers just completed his first year as an Emergency Management Specialist in the Continuous Improvement Program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Jake recently wrote of his experience: "It's been quite a journey entering the field of emergency management at such an unprecedented time. So far, I've had the chance to collect lessons learned at the Surfside Building Collapse, serve as an Information Management Lead in support of the Office for Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction's operation to vaccinate mission essential DHS department employees, and analyze how FEMA adapted their hurricane response and recovery efforts in Louisiana in a COVID environment."

Jake is pictured here (at left in center) during an interview with FEMA's elite Urban Search & Rescue Task Force at the incident site in Miami.
