You're Invited: Open House! Step into Sunnyside!

Dear Sunnyside High School Families,

We are excited to invite you to Open House: Step into Sunnyside on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 5:00 PM–6:45 PM!

This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with our school community, meet your student's teachers, and experience what makes Sunnyside High School a special place.

The evening will include:

5:00 PM – 5:15 PM Principal's Welcome Message in the Auditorium
5:15 PM – 6:45PM Classroom Visits where families can walk their student's schedule and meet each teacher
5:15 PM – 6:45PM Safety & Academic Fair in the East Gym, featuring school programs, student supports, and community resources

🎟️ Special Incentive: Every Sunnyside student who attends Open House with their family will receive a FREE ticket to our first home football game, Sunnyside HS vs. Vista Grande on August 28 @ 7:00 PM!

📚 Tomorrow’s the Day, Blue Devils! 💙😈

We can’t wait to welcome all of our students back to campus tomorrow for the first day of the 2026–2027 school year! Here are a few important reminders to help you start the year strong:

🕘 School Hours: 9:20 a.m. – 3:05 p.m.

📅 Skinny Schedule: We will be on a Skinny Bell Schedule for the first day of school. Students should report directly to their 1st period class upon arrival.

📲 Check Your Schedule: Due to class balancing, some student schedules have changed. Please log into PowerSchool before coming to school to make sure you have your most up-to-date schedule.

📝 Schedule Changes: At this time, schedule changes will only be made for students who have:
✔️ A hole in their schedule
✔️ A missing required specialty course

All other schedule change requests will begin during Week 3 of the school year.

✅ Need to Register? Students who have not completed registration must report to the East Gym before attending classes. Registration must be completed before students can begin their school day.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Shannon Fojtik and Alfred Tapia, two incredible members of the Sunnyside High School family who exemplify what it means to be a Blue Devil.

📚 Dr. Shannon Fojtik, one of our English Department lead teachers, inspires students every day through her passion for learning and writing. As the instructor for our Pima Writing class, she helps students develop the skills and confidence to succeed both in high school and beyond.

🛡️ Alfred Tapia, a valued member of our security team, goes above and beyond to help keep our campus safe. More than that, he has built meaningful relationships with our students, faculty, and staff, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone.

The countdown to the first day of school is on! School starts Wednesday, July 29, and all students must complete online registration before receiving their class schedule, laptop, or student ID.

✅ Important Reminders:
• Registration is 100% online through PowerSchool (no paper forms).
• Select “Returning Student Registration” when logging in.
• Complete your registration by Sunday, July 5 to receive a Fast Track Pass by email and enjoy a quicker registration experience!

🔹 July 17: Fast Track Pass students (assigned times)
