Students studying abroad this summer in Orvieto were visited by Journalism alumna Betty Hurd ('20), a senior travel writer for Travel Lemming.
Hurd visited Professor Kendal Blust's food and feature writing classes to speak with students about freelancing, social media and how travel writing is being impacted by AI.

This week, Assistant Professor Josh Anderson is attending the Annual International Communication Association (ICA) Conference hosted in Cape Town.
Professors Jessica Retis and Jeannine Relly, Assistant Professor Zicheng Cheng and Journalism student Ruby Wray are also participating in the 5-day conference to meet with fellow scholars and share their recent research.

Caitlin Schmidt, editor and publisher of Tucson Spotlight, has been elected as the new chair of the University of Arizona School of Journalism Advisory Council.
A longtime Southern Arizona journalist, Schmidt brings more than 15 years of experience to the role, along with ties to the School as an alumna and former adjunct instructor.
As chair, Schmidt will help support the school’s mission of preparing students for careers in journalism and media.
