If you are logged in on PTC to operate the engine, go back and make sure the engines that are supposed to be shut down are in fact DEAD. NOT JUST ISOLATED. And be sure that the Dispatcher knows why you were back there doing that and delaying the train.

We have had 2 members charged with failure to follow instructions for departing the terminal to make the managers happy and then being called by OSS to shut down something.

Take NO CHANCES!

Give them what they want. Shut down the power even if you think you will stall on wet rail, and make sure you tell the Dispatcher. Rule also states that you must tell the dispatcher about any delays. You WILL BE CHARGED. Even Z-Trains do not have a pass to exceed TPA right now.

Here we go again...

The Carrier has issued Superintendent Bulletin 130 directing crews to be ready to proceed within 15 minutes. Our Agreement says otherwise!

Article 14(B) of the Redbook clearly states that trainmen are to be called on duty no less than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure.
That time exists for a reason—to print paperwork, gather supplies, conduct a proper job briefing, review bulletins, and prepare to perform the job safely.
No bulletin can override our negotiated Agreement.
If you are called on duty under this bulletin, submit a non-service claim under "Claim Not Found" every time until this issue is corrected. Documentation is critical as we pursue this violation.

Most importantly, do not rush and do not compromise safety. Take the time necessary to properly prepare for your assignment.
A safe, thorough job briefing and compliance with the Agreement protect both you and your coworkers.
