Have you ever snuggled a snake, been hissed at by a giant cockroach, released a homing pigeon or met a turtle face to face? Now you can!

We at Flying Fox Educational Zoo keep a number of species of reptiles, amphibians and other "exotic" animals (many of them rescues,) and provide educational services to promote understanding and appreciation of these amazing animals. We believe that ALL animals deserve to be treated with love and respect, regardless of species, and that EVERY pet deserves a forever home.

In the next couple of months, we will be moving everyone to a place with two acres of land so there's room for larger enclosures! As you know, our wonderful menagerie eats a LOT-- not to mention other expenses like habitat improvement and vets. Will you help make the move easier for our rescue/educational animals, and help improve their lives? Thank you so much, from us and the critters!

We're moving the zoo! As of August, Flying Fox Education Zoo will relocate to Three Points, AZ, where we will have more space for the outside animal's enclosures. If you've been thinking of donating, this would be an excellent time! We will also be needing lots of cinder blocks and other building materials to rebuild the enclosures, if you've got any to spare. Thank you in advance!

Red and Yellow Kills a Fellow? Your Identification Guide to Tri-color snakes. 04/21/2019

"Old wive's tales" can sometimes get you in trouble--and more often, gets our wildlife in trouble! The old adage "Red on black, friend of Jack, red on yellow, kill a fellow" is a good example. Many harmless snakes are killed by folks believing them to be coral snakes (which, incidentally, are shy and not inclined to bite.) Venomous snakes are sometimes free-handled by people who follow the colour guidelines of the adage. Here's a great article by Snake Buddies about tri-coloured snakes. Remember, the best thing to do is leave a snake alone, and study reliable guidebooks so that you are familiar with the snakes in your area.

Red and Yellow Kills a Fellow? Your Identification Guide to Tri-color snakes. Only 4 families of venomous snakes exist in the United States. These are the rattlesnakes, Copperheads, Water Moccasins (Cotton Mouths), and the Coral snakes. For the purpose of this article, we wi…
