Weโre excited to announce that two new faculty members will be joining our department this fall: Dr. Yongren Shi and Dr. Yoonyoung (Young) Choi!
Dr. Shi is a computational sociologist with expertise in social networks, organizations, and social psychology. His research uses large-scale digital trace data to explore complex social systems.
Dr. Choi specializes in population dynamics and health disparities, focusing on how immigration status, family formation, and gender impact health outcomes across the life course.
Weโre thrilled to have them on board and look forward to their contributions to our research, teaching, and community. Welcome, Dr. Shi and Dr. Choi!

Forced Migration, Deterrence, and Solutions to the Non-Natural Disaster of Migrant Deaths Along the US-Mexico Border and Beyond - The Center for Migration Studies of New York (CMS)
This paper introduces a special edition of JMHS, which draws on original research and the expertise of medical examiners, forensic anthropologists, social scientists, and humanitarian organizations to examine migrant deaths along the border.
