Who wants to come and work with me everyday? Great position at the U of A in a great department with an amazing team member (ME!). To all of my educator friends, this is an excellent alternative to dealing with what you are dealing with in your schools AND still make a significant impact on students. I love advising and would never go back to the classroom in Arizona because of the lack of respect for all the amazing things you are doing for students every day. Come join me!!

Vote for your favorites! UHS has 8 in the competition
We received 90 submissions by students from across Southern Arizona for the Congressional Art Competition! This year we thought, what better way to select a piece that truly reflects Southern Arizona than to enable you to help pick the winner?
For 14 days (until April 7), you can like, share, and discuss what artwork you'd like to see in Washington or one of my district offices. The ten pieces with the most likes, comments, and shares will be given to a local panel of judges, who will determine the winners.
So let the voting begin!

Fun times in the art room! Beginning Art students are working on creating Identity Mobiles. We are also finishing up ceramics pieces. I love the third quarter because it is all about 3D art!

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who'll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you're sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that's almost never the case." -Chuck Close
