GUYS, I’m getting MARRIED.

Photos from The Green Elementary Teacher's post 04/12/2022

This past year has been a world wind. I’ve had DMs asking if I was okay and the answer is, yes. I’ve taken a long hiatus on Instagram for my mental health. In that year, I earned my masters in Educational Leadership, got my principal license, started my second masters program (in reading!), built a HOUSE with my best friend, and got ENGAGED to that person, the love of my life. I put myself and family first. I love my job. I love teaching, but I love my family more. By setting my priorities in a different place, I was able to achieve things I never thought I could accomplish. This is your remind to put YOU first. And maybe, I might just be back🥰

✨Ready or not✨ School is starting, at least remotely! I got this idea from with sending home a note to families for supply pick up day. It’s a great reminder to parents that the supplies is ours and will need to be returned!

Also, my awesome teammate decided to make a video explaining the supplies that is being sent home for the month. I chose to do the same since it adds more clarification to why particular items are sent home.

Fingers crossed this all goes well guys!🤞🏼

Nobody prepared me for this. Nobody taught me this. I never learned that there would come a day where I couldn’t hug my students, let them turn and talk, share supplies, get messy while learning, and do all those great things that make kids KIDS.

Two days ago, I received the worst news. Due to enrollment numbers, I had the choice of moving buildings or staying at my school and enduring on remote learning. I chose remote. For an entire year, I will not be able to teach in person and do the thing that makes me feel alive. I’m in shock. Everything I learned to do has been flipped upside down. What I thought was going to last a few months has surpassed that and makes me question what next school year will even look like. I just want to teach and so do you. I am not alone and neither are you.

This has to pass and it will. I don’t know when, nobody does. What I do know is that it will. This is a beautiful community where we can reach out, lift up, and support one another. Just last night, I saw some amazing ideas that got me excited despite everything else. This is the year to be kind, support one another, cast no judgements, and lift each other up. We are in this together, and we’ll get through this together.

Closing circle! If someone were to ask me what is one thing that has had the largest impact on my classroom this year, I would say that it would be having a consistent and daily closing circle. I bought into the idea after reading several texts from the . No matter how the day has gone, you still end it on a positive note; that’s what I love most. I have seen such a change in my classroom community and the way the kids truly feel like they are a part of it. We often engage in WOWs and POWs (idea adapted from ) where the kids can ask a question, voice a compliment, or state a comment (anything that they’d like to share). We also do a variety of other team building activities too. How do you end your day?? Comment below!⬇️

Readers gonna read! Who’s with me?! I love this mini light box from the Target Dollar Spot. I keep it on our writing center, and I feel like it adds a little “touch” (is that even a phrase?😂) to our space! Inserts can be found in my TpT!
