Planting day for the drainage basins at the Feldmans neighborhood. Came out beautiful!!
HydroCats is all about improving use of water resources through water harvesting in the Tucson area.
The desert southwest is the focal point of water issues in the U.S. At the same time that the Colorado River is sucked dry and pushed uphill through the CAP to supply Arizona cities, the water needs of most Arizona homes can be met simply by capturing the water that falls on the roof. Last weekend, HydroCats had the pleasure of presenting our work at the annual conference of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education in Minneapolis. Five other Students for Sustainability projects presented at the 2,300-attendee conference as well, marking the first year that every single SFS proposal was accepted to attend.
Our presentation was a great success. Dylan and Kashja focused on the strength we draw from our connections with Tucson's leading water sustainability organizations and deftly handled a Q&A session emphasizing transferability.
Thanks to the many people and organizations that have helped us get to where we are today!
