Smartscape was launched in both the Tucson and Phoenix areas in 1994 to increase water efficiency in Arizona’s urban corridor.

Smartscape is a comprehensive, research-based training program that instructs landscape and irrigation professionals in the fundamentals of design, installation, and maintenance of sustainable, desert-adapted landscapes and irrigation systems. Besides caring for the on-site gardens, the host plant-talks, tours and offer garden consultation services.

Have a specific question about your plants? Submit a question to their Plant Clinic online or visit them at the Pima County Cooperative Extension on Mondays and Thursdays from 10AM to 2PM.

Another successful Suburban & Urban Weeds and Fire Risk Pima Smartscape course in the books! Landscaper participants learned how to identify and treat high fire risk plants like stinknet, buffelgrass and fountain grass over two days of training. Thanks to collaborators Pima Smartscape, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and Tucson Bird Alliance for making it all come together.
