QF4 Game Program: Winning Results

Nice job to everyone's students who participated in Quickfire #4 - the final challenge of this year!

For this challenge, students were asked to create pages of a Game Program for Tucson Baseball Team

We received 23 entries from 5 different schools
(Cholla, JTED@FW, Queen Creek, Sabino, Sunnyside).

VOTING PROCESS
The ballot was shared online via email and social media, with votes tallied as follows:
We received votes from 181 people
(164 students, 6 educators, 5 community members, 6 industry professionals).

Results: TAHSGDC18

Thanks to all who contributed to making the 18th annual Tucson Area High School Graphic Design Championships a success!
Below is a recap of the event, complete with details about winners.

ADVERTISING DESIGN
12 competitors from 5 schools were in attendance.
They were challenged by 3 projects for real world customers:
1) Website Home Page for Y Las Tortillas (local specialty tortilla brand)
2) Social Media Templates for Gully Bakehouse (Indian fusion bakery)
3) Promo Flyer for Studio Create Sports (local photo studio)
Scores from above-noted were compiled to rank student designers for state qualifying.
Presentations were given by schools as teams, including a mood board document to explain their creative process.
Schools were ranked using a combination of average student design score combined with their presentation and mood board.
8 local professionals (including the business owners) attended as judges of the event.
Business owners provided prizes for the winning students.

SCREEN PRINTING TECHNOLOGY
6 competitors from 2 schools were in attendance.
They were scored on a combination of tasks, including:
- Screen coating - written test - screen exposure/printing prep - printing 2-color garment - quality control - presentation/interview
HUGE THANKS to Industry-Advisory Professionals Tank & partner from Arizona Cottons and Darryl from Desert Beach Specialties, who volunteered their Saturday to run and judge this competition.

For this challenge, students were asked to create a General Admission Ticket and On-Field Pass for a Tucson Baseball Team Game

We received 21 entries from 5 different schools (Cholla, Coolidge, Ironwood Ridge, JTED@FW, Queen Creek).

Ticket & On-Field Pass for Tucson Baseball Team
Students were presented with the concept that the Tucson Baseball Team needs 2 types of tickets for their games: general admission and special on-field guests. They were given up to 3 hours to complete their creations using software of their choice.

For this challenge, students were asked to create an Icon and Lettering for the Tucson Baseball Team.

We received 44 entries from 9 different schools (Catalina Foothills, Cholla, Combs, Ironwood Ridge, JTED@FW, Queen Creek, Sunnyside, Sabino TUSD Online)

VOTING PROCESS
The ballot form was shared online via email and social media, and now all votes have been tallied as follows: 329 people (305 students, 9 educators, 7 community member, 8 industry professionals).

We have a series of mini-challenges for design students to start the new year/semester. The first one is to re-imagine a new look for the Tucson Baseball Team, whose real uniform/name is a bit generic and lacks regional flair.
