At Doolen we have three Self Contained Classrooms where students stay with a teacher for their core classes, today we are spotlighting our Cross Cat classroom with Ms. K! Cross Cat is a mixture of students all who learn at different paces. Ms. K’s classroom is full of so many learning supports to help her students.

Continuing our celebration for art and education:
Today we are spotlighting some of the excellent art projects from our art class. Students made their names on a “fence” where they decorated it with acrylic paint. This was after they made several designs and picked their favorite to publish to the fence.

Continuing our Art in Education celebration this week, Ms. Colvin’s class picked an emotion they had and drew lines to represent that feeling, followed by coloring in the lines. The lesson was how we can use art to use as a coping skill when upset. She teaches our Emotional Disabilities class where students do often struggle with self regulation, teaching these skills can be nothing but helpful in self regulation.

Last week students used their knowledge of natural selection and adaptation in our early humans unit to pretend to be finches and test out different beaks.

This was a fun assignment from 6th grade Social Studies Mrs. Flores’s class. What a fun way to teach students!
