We're just getting started! NCI's Past:

We're bringing back the original CITI logo (back when it was the Summer Institute and then the Agnese Haury Institute)!

Does it bring back any memories for alums? This year the CITI will run May 18-June 26: https://nationalcenterforinterpretation.com/page/citi

Court Interpreter Training Institute 02/26/2026

The 2026 Court Interpreter Training Institute (CITI) will be here before you know it (May 18-June 26)! The CITI is designed to improve the interpreting proficiency of Spanish/English interpreters. We hold pre- and post-testing each year to assess the CITI's impact.

In 2024, we took a deeper dive into the pre-/post-test data, which showed a average overall score increase of +14% points. We also found a statistically significant average increase in scores for each interpreting mode:

Sight Translation: +15.5% points
Consecutive: +9% points
Simultaneous: +18% points

We use the pre-test scores to help differentiate instruction for aspiring and experienced interpreters as well, so that we can meet the CITI participants where they are and maximize its impact on their learning. The data for interpreters who were new to the field were predictably compelling, with an average overall increase of +18%. The data for experienced interpreters, including state certified folks preparing for federal certification, were not surprising, but were quite gratifying, with an overall increase of +11% points. By mode, it broke down like this:

Sight Translation: +13% points
Consecutive: +7% points
Simultaneous: +14% points
