TGC's annual FREE reading and resource session on Wednesday, July 22 will be facilitated by Tucson Girls Chorus conducting staff, and the afternoon on July 25 will be facilitated by conducting staff from the Tucson Girls Chorus AND our friends from the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus.

Joseph W. Johnston is Music Faculty Lead at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, directing the choral and musical theatre programs and coordinating piano and vocal studies. His primary focus is directing Cantorum, the college’s premier Concert Choir, while also teaching music humanities and music theory. Dr. Johnston earned music degrees in choral education and performance from Northern Arizona University and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from Arizona State University. Named 2025 Director of the Year by the Arizona Choral Directors Association, he frequently presents at conferences and serves as a clinician and adjudicator across the Southwest. A former choral director at Red Mountain High School, where his program performed three times at Carnegie Hall, he has also led numerous honor choirs and directed the Arizona Ambassadors of Music on European tours. He holds leadership roles with ACDA and NAfME and is recognized for his dedication to choral education.

The TGC is hiring! This Americorps VISTA position will help Tucson Girls Chorus (TGC) build capacity within marketing efforts to share mission driven impact, creating greater efficiency within the organization to reach and serve more girls.
