Pima Community College Athletics is saddened to hear the passing of Jim Mielke. A great person with a genuine heart. A wise advice giver and storyteller. A pioneer who started the Pima Track & Field and Cross Country programs and who was a constant at the basketball games over the last few years.

He guided the Men's Cross Country team to the 1980 NJCAA National Championship and was inducted into the Pima Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013.

A coaching career that spanned over 60 years with the Aztecs, Sunnyside Junior High and Sunnyside High School

Our condolences go out to his family, friends as well as fellow coaches and student-athletes who had the pleasure of knowing him.
