Pete Buttigieg and Adelita Grijalva were in Tucson to campaign for Joanna Mendoza. Pete is the openly gay former Transportation Secretary for the Biden administration. Locals Scott Blades and Jess Losoya weclomed Pete and Adelita in their home with local youth who are organizing to knock on doors for their futures.

Rick & Shawn (and our village) did something phenomenal. In less than 48 hours they tapped the resources and broke their own backs to put together a nationally recognized event, which you should be extremely proud of. Simultaneously they made heart connections that will last a lifetime. They evaded potential controversy by doing what they do - give their very best in working with and for our community. TQS owes you a standing ovation for all you do. Not just for Vinny & Cameron’s vigil, but with the community forum and OutWest, and the comedy shows, and the pride stages, and Bisbee Pride. The list goes on and on. You produced exceptional events withstanding grief, anxiety, fear, pain, & displaying fortitude, thought, kindness, and true compassion. We, I, owe you the deepest gratitude and recognition. I hope you know how much you are loved and appreciated

Cameron Davis Capara, was laid to rest after a traditional ceremony at St Joseph's Church in Tucson. A large crowd gathered grave side and a long line of community mourners placed flowers on his casket before it was lowered. Cameron was shot and killed at the Venture-N on August 31, 2026 during a hate crime.

24-year-old Philip Walsted was killed while walking home from IBTs in 2002, his death was initially thought to be a robbery gone wrong. Details emerged that hate motived his murder. Video Credit: -Filmrise
