Pima County folks, vote for Laura Conover for Pima County Attorney please and thank you! Learn more about Laura here: Conover for County Attorney. I've been quiet about politics for several years, but this is an important position when it comes to justice for ourselves, friends, family, and community. The County Attorney decides which cases to prosecute.

Back story: I keep getting texts from the other candidate's campaign, so I wrote a letter to the Editor which was published and now I'm sending it to all the anonymous texters who are supporting the other candidate's campaign (and texting me). Feel free to share!

Here's my letter (the published link is at the bottom):

On June 18, a letter in this paper lamented the "exodus of experienced attorneys" from the County Attorney's Office to "flee the chaos." My letter is written in response to that letter, and it is not a judgment on any employee's decision to leave the County Attorney's Office. I write this letter as a reminder of several important truths: (1) People leave jobs. (2) Chaos is not bad. (3) Chaos is a part of change. (4) We needed change in the County Attorney's Office – Before Laura, our prosecutors were leading Grand Juries to indicting ham sandwiches. (5) Change takes time. (6) Laura Conover isn't wasting resources on indicting ham sandwiches. (7) Laura Conover is working to increase justice and break the cycle of injustice. (8) Your vote for Laura Conover makes a difference. Please vote to keep Laura Conover in the County Attorney's office, so we can continue to increase justice, and decrease ham sandwich indictments. Thank you.

While the "process" can "work", folks can also be caught in the cycle of systemic domestic abuse: Arrested as a felon; the felony charges were eventually dropped, and she received a misdemeanor (https://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/20190705/felony-charges-dropped-against-courtney-irby/1)

(Yes, this article is "old"; however, the arrest of victims of domestic abuse is still a reality).

When you read the article, you'll read that other items were taken besides the guns. Domestic abuse is complex. From my work with victims, I hypothesize that those were items that were necessary to repay debt from the abuse of finances.

Our Legislation and Legislators and Judicial Systems lack an understanding of the depths of domestic abuse and the abuse of Power -- maybe because many are corrupted by the Power they wield in determining Laws that can either help or harm their constituents -- How do we truly establish a Balance of Power? Sounds like Schoolhouse Rock had it right with their comparison of our government to a "Three Ring Circus" (https://youtu.be/a9Z2ptwrQfc).
