“I am a scientist because I have a lot of questions and I want to answer my questions.”
“I am a scientist because I have ideas all the time!”
“I want to know how the world works.”

This is what science education should sound like in elementary school. 💛🔬

Not memorizing facts.
Not filling in worksheets.
Wondering. Building. Questioning. Creating.

When children begin to see themselves as scientists, something powerful happens. They stop waiting for permission to explore the world. They realize science isn’t a subject reserved for a few people in lab coats — it’s curiosity in action.

And honestly? Their drawings say it all:
🚀 rockets
🧪 experiments
♻️ inventions from “trash”
💡 big ideas
❓ even bigger questions

One student wrote:
“I am a scientist because I am awesome.”

Exactly.

The goal isn’t just teaching science.
It’s helping children develop an identity as thinkers, creators, problem-solvers, and question-askers from the very beginning.

This is molecular literacy.
This is scientific literacy.
This is confidence.

And it starts young. 🌎✨

Our 4th graders had an amazing time at the Instrument Petting Zoo hosted by the Instrumental Music Center! Students explored different instruments, asked questions, and discovered what sparks their interest as they begin thinking about band or choir for 5th grade next year. A huge thank you to Instrumental Music Center for making music come alive for our students!
