Tucson Youth Music

Tucson Youth Music We are a nonprofit music center answering the call for music education in Southern Arizona.

Qualifying students are provided with group and/or private instruction as appropriate - music books, necessary supplies, and loaner instruments, all at no charge. Students learn to play an instrument, as well as proper technique, repertoire, sight-reading, music theory, ear-training, performance, improvisation, and music appreciation. Developing musical abilities can sharpen a child’s social skills, speech, focus, and writing, as well as providing kids with a sense of achievement. 🎶✏️

Tucson Youth Music has been providing kids with the skills and benefits of music education for 74 years, helping our community’s youth to grow into confident, capable, and successful young adults.

Every donor, student, teacher, and volunteer in our program is directly involved in positively impacting the lives of kids, and we applaud the community effort that makes TYM possible. 💛🌵

Concentration, confidence, and a sense of community are only a few of the skills and benefits kids gain when they learn to play music. Young minds are especially skilled at absorbing information and learning, especially when it comes to languages and music.🧠🪄

Music has been a part of the lives of those living in Southern Arizona for thousands of years.

Native American tribes in Arizona utilized a rich variety of hand-crafted traditional instruments, using organic materials such as animal bones and hide, gourds, wood, and clay.

This long tradition of musical creation continues today, passed down through generations through educating our youth. Tucson Youth Music is proud to be a part this long legacy of musical expression in Southern Arizona through state-of-the-art, 21st century music education.

Tucson Youth Music is profoundly impactful, not only for the young students, but for the parents, extended family, and the whole community. These children grow through music education, and often are transformed from shy, inexperienced kids into confident and highly capable young adults. Sometimes good things end so that better things can come along. We’re sorry to say goodbye to the summer months, but as all Arizonans know, the heat will be here well into the fall! 🌞

If you are a TYM student, hopefully you’ve been practicing all summer, but if not… Dust off those music books and instruments! All your musical knowledge will come back easily once you get back in the groove!💛🎶
