ACE Charter High School

ACE Charter High School Alternative education high school with “blended learning” model: technology and computerized curriculum, direct instruction and project-based learning.

In 1996, Tucson Youth Development, Inc. was granted a Charter from the Arizona Department to open the Accelerated Computerized Education (ACE) Charter High School. ACE was developed to provide an alternative educational environment that allows for self-paced, independent learning that meets Arizona state standards in the core content areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies

. The learning objective for each student will be to help them master curricular content and be prepared for success in post-secondary education and/or work following graduation. The mission is to provide education to a targeted population including but not limited to:
5th year seniors no longer enrolled in school
4th year seniors no longer enrolled in school
Current seniors with insufficient credits to graduate
Students identified as at-risk due to poor attendance
Students identified as at-risk due to poor school performance
Students meeting other pre-determined profiles for an alternative education program
Students involved or previously involved in the Juvenile Justice System
Students who have dropped out of school and want to return
Parenting youth

ACE implements a "blended learning" model that integrates technology and computerized curriculum with direct instruction and project-based learning. ACE has year-round, open enrollment. Students enjoy a 1/15 teacher/student ratio. ACE provides that which is essential for the success of each student. This may include more personalized attention from the faculty; extra tutorials in math; a part-time job to earn funds needed to sustain one's household; an opportunity to express innate leadership skills and/or accelerated rate of learning. ACE enables its students to stay in school and ensures that students are academically ready for post-secondary training or advanced degrees.

Mrs. Rollins always goes above and beyond for her students. She is kind, patient, and supportive, and she never hesitates to help even when her classes are full or she is already busy helping others.
She takes the time to make sure students understand what they’re learning and helps them work through challenges without simply giving them the answers. This allows students to learn, grow, and become more confident in their own abilities. She manages multiple classes while continuing to make her classroom welcoming and enjoyable.
Mrs. Rollins is dedicated to making every student feel supported and believes in the best of everyone. Her kindness, patience, and commitment to her students make our school a better place. We are proud to recognize Mrs. Rollins as our first Staff of the Month! 📚✏️

In science, we learned about the Scientific Method and watched an episode of Mythbusters. In the episode they tested to see if you interlaced the pages of a phone book was it impossible to pull apart. We recreated and tested the theory ourselves.

Our geometry class went down the hall to Miss. Ale’s office to use her geometric design wall. We measured and identified different angles while exploring geometry in the real world. It was a fun way to see how the concepts we learn in the class can be used outside the classroom.
