Hybridge students toured Oglethorpe University last week and had a blast - beautiful campus, fantastic tour guide, and lots of great information to take in as they make college choices.

Next up is Brenau University !

Attention homeschoolers in the DeKalb County School District that are interested in MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) Testing.

Testing will take place on Oct 17 and Nov 14 and is open to homeschooling students within the DCSD zone. (You’ll need proof of address and your letter of intent.)

Math can be a challenge for many families, especially once students get into more advanced topics. Teachers, parents, and schools are faced with the choice of quietly passing students into the next level or re-teaching material the students don’t understand (or maybe weren’t taught in the first place!)

At Hybridge, when we see a gap in understanding, whether that’s in math or any other subject, teachers strive to back up, teach the concept, and make sure students understand before moving on. You can’t build on an unstable foundation, which is why we offer both self-paced and group direct instruction math classes.

If your student is struggling, reach out to their teachers. We always want to hear from our families, especially when someone is struggling in class. We want our graduates to be prepared for whatever they choose after high school!

Anyone have a weather kid? The National Weather Service has free online classes next week covering a variety of topics. Info below!

UPDATE (10/1 5 PM CT): Due to incredible demand (we've never had this happen), we have reached our limit for Monday's class. Because of this, we have had to close registration for (ONLY) Monday's class. ALL other classes are still open, including a 10 am CT class for "Severe Thunderstorms" on Friday, October 30th.

**If you have if you have already registered for Monday's class, please go and check your email you used to sign up. There is an important note for you.**

Neurographic art is a therapeutic art form designed to bypass the critical brain, foster creativity, improve focus, and help process emotions. It’s an art form accessible to absolutely everyone! Students, please join us for some (free) drop in zen this Thursday at 1pm in room 9. All supplies will be provided.

Seniors! If college is the next step for you, and you need help with those applications, please let your teachers know. We’re here to help!

If you want a more formal approach, Suzanne Rezelman has room in her Life Skills class and they are covering all of this right now!

And as she will tell you, education is not a race. You have time. Trade school and apprenticeships are awesome. Gap years can be great, and there is a path to secondary education for everyone who wants one.
