I'm a former middle and high school teacher with a strong background in child psychology from the University of Michigan. I take a holistic approach towards my students, esp. in this Covid/post-Covid era, whereby so many children are struggling both academically and psychologically, attributable to the isolation and other effects of the pandemic.
As a published author, I specialize in reading and writing at all levels, K-12, all subjects at the elementary school level and selected subjects at the middle and high school levels. My hours are flexible and could accommodate most schedules. My standard practice is to provide a first session as a complimentary one for me to evaluate your child and for you to evaluate me.

This past summer, I engaged Katherine to prepare my 7-yr old son for his upcoming year in 2nd grade. Because of Covid restrictions, my son had not physically attended school during what otherwise would have been his kindergarten and first grade years, and, as a result, was somewhat behind - especially in reading. Katherine did a marvelous job in engaging my son in the curriculum she developed, and, over the course of the summer, brought his reading level up by several notches, such that he was fully prepared for school in September (and so far he is enjoying a successful second grade). I would recommend Katherine not only for her skill set and creativity, but also because she genuinely cares about the child she is instructing and will persevere until the objectives are met.
