Due to ongoing power outages on campus, Tryon Elementary School will be closed today, Friday, August 21.

There will be no school for Tryon Elementary students today.

All other Polk County Schools will operate on their normal schedules.

Thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate everyone’s flexibility as we work through the power outage.

Check out how some of our 1st- and 3rd-grade classrooms are kicking off the Character Strong curriculum! 🎉 Students are beginning to explore important skills that help build strong character, positive relationships, and a supportive school community. One important focus is kindness—learning how small acts of kindness can make a big difference! 💙🐾 We’re excited to watch our students grow, learn, and become their very best selves!

Character Strong is being funded by a generous grant from the Rotary Club of Tryon.

🌟 Building Strong Character at TES! 🌟

This morning, our students gathered for assemblies to be introduced to our new social-emotional learning curriculum, Character Strong! 💙 Led by our school counselor, Mrs. Rikard, students learned how Character Strong will help us grow in kindness, character, relationships, and personal responsibility throughout the school year.

We appreciate the Tryon Rotary Club for providing a grant to cover the cost of this curriculum!

We’re excited to grow stronger together! 🐾✨

Every Tryon Elementary student had a hand in creating the school’s newest piece of art - literally.

During a schoolwide artist-in-residence experience, students traced their hands and then worked hand-over-hand with visiting artist Bob Doster to cut their designs from steel using a plasma cutter. Those individual pieces became part of a large steel sculpture created for the school.

Tryon art instructor Parker Mullinax hosted the residency with Doster, giving students an opportunity to experience a new artistic process while helping create something that will remain at Tryon for years to come.

Tryon Elementary School students have created a piece of art that will remain at the school long after they move on to new classrooms and new schools.

🐾 **PAWS for Success!** 🐾

Dr. Mauldin met with our K–5th grade students to review our schoolwide behavior expectations! Students revisited the **PAWS Matrix, TES Pledge, student/parent handbook, and our 7 Rules for Success** as we kick off another great year at TES.

We’re ready to **Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Be a Learner!** 📚🐾
