Regenerative farming!
We took enough worms from this dirt to be able to start a whole new worm composter.
This space used to hold 2 raised beds. Now we are opening the entire space, for a large, in ground melon bed.

First, I dehydrate my oranges. Then, I run them through my vita-mix, and toss them through a pasta strainer to catch the bigger chunks. Those get put aside for tea blends. Then I put it through a mesh strainer, and the second batch adds texture and flavor to seasoning blends. The fine powder gets added to salt for a citrus burst, some gets packaged alone and some goes in a shaker bottle on my tea bar.
Today it's oranges, but I do this with all citrus fruit

The kitchen smells amazing!

Please do not access the garden after dark.
Let's talk about why.
First, the garden is just that, a garden, which means there are rocks, unstable footing, trees with thorns, wildlife, and a bunch of variables that could take place.
Second, there is not proper lighting and this is for a reason.
Is very important for us to protect our neighbors evenings. We do not want to increase light bouncing in their windows or the extra noise of traffic and people while they are settling into their quiet hours. Part of building community also involves respecting community.
We are looking forward to growing this space and excited for all who have gotten involved already. Thank you for understanding.

Outside the box gardening!
At Nature's Classroom, we are creating a garden together. There are no planters or raised bed. There are no limits to the space that can be used. We encourage growing up the fences, running melons in ditches, building stick trellis, hanging baskets from trees. Sharable flower pots and all sorts of reusable containers can be found on planting table. We are building compost and worm castings together, that will be available for use. Children are encouraged to participate. Kids sized garden tools and planting station can be found in addition to our playground. Sitting nooks throughout the garden allow for a break in the shade and can be used for classes and hosting of groups. There is no cost to grow in the garden, however donations are excepted to help defer the cost of water.
If this sounds like something exciting to you, or you would just like a tour of the space, reach out through messenger or email [email protected] or call 575-444-6116
